Managed services are a pay-as-you-go model, meaning you are literally paying your vendor for the actual service they provide, not some empty retainer. Because of that, it also means you have control over just how much you pay your vendor based on how many services you solicit from them.
If an issue arises and your team can handle it themselves, let them. You don’t have to worry about paying your vendor for a service you aren’t using. Your team has just saved you money and eliminated a headache at the same time. Sounds like a wonderful, flexible solution.
